It's The Most Writing-ful Time of the Year

 "It's that time again."

"To make fun of Disney+?"

"To make bubbles with our spit?"

"No, it's almost NaNoWriMo."

Yes, November is nigh. And as such, National Novel Writing Month is almost upon us. Those who have followed my writing exploits over the years know I've been participating in it on-and-off since I made my first attempt back in 2009. This year, I've decided to throw my hat into the ring once again. However, I have an additional incentive this year, and it ties into the class I've been taking this semester.

My professor gave a stipulation at the start of the semester in the course syllabus where if a student in the class participating in NaNo, completed the task of writing 50,000 words within the 30 days, and kept a daily journal of their progress -- submitting it all at the end of November (December 1st is the deadline), --said student would be guaranteed at least a B+ in the class. If that's not a tempting proposition for a self-published author taking this class, I don't know what else is.

But as always, my intended story idea changed a couple weeks before I was about to start writing. Originally, I was going to attempt a "Young Adult Supernatural Sports Romance." However, the characters from my Gary Celdom universe started poking my consciousness after a prolonged publishing hiatus. Not that I haven't attempted writing the latest case for Gary, Jessica, and Karen. I just haven't had the legs to see it through completion. I'm hoping the written deal with my professor will give me the spark my dormant muse has needed. Especially, since I haven't released a new book since I concluded The Prairie Fire Trilogy last April.

I'm also hoping the literary juices will start flowing again soon, between my proposed five signing appearances next year, plus two others slated for 2023. Speaking of which, here's my updated signing schedule:

March 5, 2022 - All The Books - Houston, TX

May 14, 2022 - Romancing The Falls - Niagara Falls, ON, Canada

June 4, 2022 - Tampa Indie Author Book Convention - Tampa, FL

August 13, 2022 - Ignite Your Soul Author Event - London, ON, Canada

September 8 - 11, 2022 - Bouchercon 2022 - Minneapolis, MN

September 16, 2023 - Getting Witchy With It - Salem, MA

October 15, 2023 - All Shook Up at Graceland - Memphis, TN

I was slated to participate at Books at the Beach in Clearwater Beach, FL this weekend; however, due to personal concerns regarding the Coronavirus, I withdraw my intent. Admittedly, I will miss my readers and fellow authors who will be at the event. But one's personal health should be first priority.

That's all from here for now. Until next time, happy reading!
