Speading the Word, One Takeover at a Time

As I have probably mentioned in the past, one tool an author can use to help publicize their work is by doing "Takeover Events" on social media. These online events are usually done to help celebrate a blog anniversary, a new release by the hosting author, or a larger in-person signing event. I have partaken in these type of online events in the past before, but because there are an abundance of authors in the community it can be a challenge to find a slot in order to hype your own work. All of them have the same goal as yourself: get your name and your work into the minds of aspiring readers.

As many of you know, I relocated from my former home in Ontario, Canada to the sunny climate (albeit, chilly at the current juncture) of Florida, USA. One would think I would take a breather from promotion until I was settled into my new abode, and role as an author/husband. As I was settling, I noticed a few takeover events happening that piqued my interest, but more often than not, the available spots were already filled. I knew I had to bide my time, and hope there would be an online event where I could shoehorn myself into. Well, I guess my luck is starting to change; either that, or my current homebody life is enabling me to be more observant.

In the past few weeks, I have been able to observe some new takeover events being listed with available slots. For an author, you need to strike while the iron is freshly hot to get into these events. Long story short, due to my keen eyes, I have been able to sign up for, at the current juncture, four Author Takeover events. The majority of them are 30-minute allotments, and as most of you know, I have published 9 books and 2 short stories across 3 personas. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to see this poses an interesting predicament. I will need to determine (and quick) which of the three personas I will need to focus upon. Logic would dictate I ought to key in on my latest book, which was released at the end of last year. But, what about the other two 'nom de plumes'? Fortunately, one of the events is a 1-hour segment, so I'll use that one to talk about all three personas.

I just hope I can perfect my 'short game', as the first of the three 30-minute segments is slated for this Saturday.

For those interested in seeing me virtually flop around, here is the tentative schedule (All times EST, and on Facebook):
